Why Japanese Fashion is Exhausting
Literally everything about Japanese Fashion is on point. From the hair styles to the clothes that they wear down to the types of shoes that they have, it’s great to look at, to keep up with (catch up with) is a completely different story.
Back home, in America, I realized that most of the people my age didn’t really come to class or school all that dressed up. At least, that’s how it seems to me. Most of the time the typical Florida female student would wear some sort of athleticesque attire to class (i.e. Yoga pants, leggings, spaghetti strap shirt, etc.) and your typical Florida male normally wears something along those same lines or the signature salmon (yeti red or whatever TF) colored shorts. Each to their own, of course, but my point being it was hard to see anyone that would be outside of this fashion statement at Rollins. If you know me, however, I don’t really dress according to the criteria that just stated so I always felt that I had my own way of dressing and it was easy for me to make my style stamp on campus. So when I came to Japan, I was none the wiser. Until I walked off the plain and was immediately slayed by the Tokyoites.
As soon as I got off the plane I was filled with this “We’re not in Kansas anymore” feeling. I felt so underdressed. It was crazy but I am finally getting used to it and it is really fun to go shopping with my Japanese friends. Any who, that this blog!
See you all later!
