I’ve been busy these past couple of week, busy enough to (almost) forget to do another blog post. Since I have arrived here at Maynooth University I have spent little to no time in my room doing nothing. Last weekend, I met with Elexsa and Paula in London because Elexsa had planned to attend the Redhead Festival that was taking part that weekend. That was an awesome experience, especially for her. Besides the festival, I was finally able to see Big Ben, the London Eye and various other staples of London. It was cool that after seeing so many pictures of these landmarks, I finally was able to see them in person and experience these things for myself. This was also my first hostel experience in another country, which was quite uneventful being that all we did was sleep and shower there before taking off. Getting to and from London alone was not easy for me; I am absolutely terrible with any sort of directions even if it is right in front of my face. I did not get lost once during my flight there and
back, although my flight was delayed on both occasions. Not fun, especially not at 7 am running on 0 sleep.
After arriving back at Maynooth, I have finally started classes. Things work a bit different here at Maynooth to say the least so I may or may not have gotten lost about 5 times and missed on of my classes. But alas, I have survived my third first week of fall semester of my undergrad. Getting used to an Irish accent has proved much more difficult than I have ever expected and I have definitely been using the smile and nod response more often than not. But still, I have been doing alright.
Yesterday, a group of international students and I took the very, very long bus ride up to Northern Ireland to see Giants Causeway. First of all, incredible. Second of all, not prepared for the rain. It was a beautifully cool, but foggy day so I should have known I needed a solid rain coat. Regardless of the rain, I was able to snag too many pictures as well as check out the popular Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (which was much less scary than I had anticipated).
So far so good, for me here in Ireland 🙂
