So I have been here at Maynooth for almost a month now and it seems crazy. I feel like I have been here forever but also like I just got here a week ago. Weird how that works.
Anyways, life has been interesting to say the least. Last Saturday, I finally made my way into Dublin to see some of what the city had to offer as well as do a bit of shopping (thought I had packed well but….it’s been cold as hell in Ireland). Spending some time at the National Museum of Ireland – Archaeology and seeing the city as we made our trek around, my group and I finally made our way to shop a bit. Afterwards I finally tried real, authentic Irish coffee. It was delicious but admittedly the only coffee I’ve had since I’ve been here has been instant coffee so I’m not sure if I may be a bit biased at this point.
Moving along, we all went back, changed and showered and decided to head back into Dublin later that night to check out the night life and try our hand at a different pub. It was a great time, really, at Dicey’s until my wallet and phone disappeared. Not quite sure how that happened but it did. While my wallet was retrieved, my phone unfortunately was not so I am phone-less for the time being, until my parents send me my new phone. That’s probably been the worst thing about this trip thus far, as my phone is really my only connection to home that I have had since I got here. Since the loss of my phone, I have been emailing my family (I know, so 90’s, right?) but I have been surviving.
I have been making plans to go possibly to the Cliffs of Moher later this weekend, as well as Brussels and Norway in the following weeks. While the loss of my phone has been painful, the planning of these trips has definitely been helping to ease the pain.
All of my photos are on my phone, so I don’t have much to share at this point but soon I’ll have much more exciting things to post about than losing my phone :-)))))
