Hello everyone!
So apparently it has already been a month since I started my semester abroad in the UK. It really only seems like it has been a week or so. Time is going away so fast…
So last week I did a lot of fun things at my internship!
On monday we had “green monday” … let me give you a little bit of context.. my supervisor’s supervisor HATES the color green so obviously we had to do something about it and my entire team decided that it was going to be a good idea to all wear green for our weekly event-staff meeting… Everybody forgot except for the client development manager and I, so we were the target of numerous pranks by the senior manager (my supervisor’s supervisor) and that was an interesting bonding moment.
Another interesting thing that happened was that I volunteered to take on the event’s manager role at a restaurant for a day because one of my colleagues was having a hard time getting used to her new placement at a restaurant called Sartoria. So I went there on Friday (to get more hours and get the chance to work in a new venue) and I basically took over the manager role. It was the first time they did not treat me like an intern but instead, they treated me like a permanent employee at the events team. My supervisor said that she was very happy and impressed for my progress and she told me the event manager at Sartoria requested me as a permanent staff member for the rest of my internship… Fortunately, my supervisor allowed me to keep being a floater for the rest of the duration of my internship which is very exciting.
Yesterday, they actually sent me to another restaurant called “The Royal Exchange Cafe”. IT IS BEAUTIFUL and really really. It is inside of a listed building (fancy way of saying protected historical building) so D&D had to figure out different ways to make the arrangements to have a restaurant in that building.
So… yeah, I know… it is really cool.
Also, modesty aside… D&D just won the MOST BEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD… Remember the German Gymnasium? yeah, that is the one. And that is the level of the place where I’m interning.
On a different note, If you are ever looking for something cheap to do in London, you should go to the “London Cocktail week”… It is only 10 pounds for a week-long pass and you get to meet some of the most experimented bartenders of the world and try their creations.
.. that is basically what I did all last week…This next two weeks are going to be so
These next two weeks are going to be so exciting, I am going to two different D&D events which means my internship is entrusting me with more complicated tasks, I am going to watch Wicked (for free thanks to CAPA), I am going to to the farewell party for one of my colleagues, I am going to Oxford for a day (again thanks to CAPA), I am going to the Chainsmokers concert and another D&D party and I am touring the Harry Potter studios .
Until next week… Bye!
