It has been about eight weeks here, and it feels like it has been two. Over the past two weeks, I went to Barcelona and started classes at the University of Oviedo. So far, Barcelona has been my favorite place. Barcelona has something for everyone. Whether you want to see culture, the beach, or site seeing, there is everything. The first day spent, we rented bikes and explored as much as we could. The second day was more relaxed, and we spent a couple hours at the beach and walking around. One thing that has surprised me about this whole experience is the amount of people you will meet at a hostel. A hostel is full of students like you studying abroad and trying to visit as many places during their semester. It is cool to hear about the different experiences and places people are from.
At first it felt like us Rollins students were the only Americans in Oviedo, but when classes started I was able to meet other students from Iowa, New York, Missouri, and Florida. Classes itself are interesting because you are constantly practicing the Spanish, and every day it gets a little bit easier. Next week, I will be in Amsterdam and Brussels!
