I WENT TO LONDON.
A few weeks ago, my friend Ellen and I were trying to figure out what we should do with a free weekend we had coming up. I said, “Hey, wanna go to London.” and she said (spoiler alert), “Hell yes.” We bought our tickets, booked a Harry Potter walking tour, found a hostel, and cried a little bit (out of joyous nerdiness). Here’s a recap:
On day one (Friday) we saw most of the more touristy attractions.
[Tower Bridge]
[Big Ben]
[London Eye]
Then the next day, the real reason we came: the Harry Potter tour. This was a two and a half hour tour around London that ended at Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross Station (the actual platform in the movie was filmed at the train station across the street, but there is a tribute at King’s Cross).
[Window of a bookshop on the street that inspired Diagon Alley]
[South African Embassy aka Gringotts Bank in the films]
[King’s Cross Station]
[Platform 9 3/4]
After the tour we went to Brick Lane, which is a hipstery part of London. I was in love. There was really dope street art and an underground vintage clothing market where I wanted to buy every single thing they had. I managed to leave with only one sweatshirt, but it was a difficult choice.
Finally, the last thing that we did was go see Buckingham Palace…because Buckingham Palace. It was beautiful.
Until next time, England (which is soon and will be the best day of my entire life @ChancetheRapper).
