These past two weeks I spent traveling to Madrid and Toledo. Before my travels, I was unfortunate enough to get sick and spent almost a week trying to recover. By the time I got to Madrid, I met up with friends and made sure to get plenty of sleep that night so I would recover faster. With sniffles and a bad cough, I made it through all the museums the next day. We went to the Prado museum and the Sofia Reina, which were enormous. If one was to see everything, they would need a day per museum.
Palacio Real
The next day we went sight-seeing around Madrid and saw the Palacio Real, which was my favorite, then a good amount of churches, as well as the Puerta de Sol, and others. There was much to see, but because we were staying so many days we saved the rest for the next day.
Templo Debod
I got to see the Temple of Debod, as well as eat my way through Madrid. The food was quite interesting because most of the things we had were fusion foods, where Spanish food was mixed with Japanese or Italian and such.
Toledo
One of the days we rented a car to go to Toledo and got to tour the city which was once divided by three religions, which is still evident today. The Bridge of San Martin was beautiful, and the whole city was surrounded by a natural protective wall- water. In the end, Madrid turned out to be a very pleasant place, and I think that having more time there helped me enjoy seeing all the sights more. The weather was also a lot warmer than Asturias and I got to wear dresses when going out, although we never made it to a Halloween party, we definitely made it to the nightlife in Madrid. I can’t wait for the next adventure to come!
