I’m currently in denial that I have to hop a plane in a few hours to go back home to the States. This has been the greatest 5 months of my life, and it’s hard to believe that it flew by so fast. Also can’t believe that this is going to be my last blog post!
Since last time, I finished all of my finals and felt great to be free of school work and have so much free time on my hands. I thought I did pretty well on them, but we’ll have to wait and see. On the night of my last exam, a few of my friends and I drove over to Milford Sound/Te Anau to spend the weekend. We got to the campsite at around 10pm and passed out right away. They next day, we went on a boat tour of Milford Sound. It rained all day, but it rains 300 days out of the year there, so no surprise. But because of all the rain, the waterfalls were incredible. We got soaked when the boat went under one of the waterfalls and we were just cold and wet sitting in the boat, but it was totally worth it. I also finally saw a couple of penguins. The next day we hiked up to Key Summit off of the Routeburn Track. It was another super cloudy day, so the views weren’t too great, but it was still pretty awesome.
Last night, a bunch of my friends from my program and I went out for our final dinner together and it was definitely bitter sweet. I’ve already had to say goodbye to a few of the amazing people I’ve met here it was really hard.
I wish this entire experience didn’t have to end, but I’m excited to see my friends and family again. Just three plane rides between me and home.
