The past two or so weeks have been especially grand (to use an Irish expression) since I’ve been able to see my family and some of my Rollins friends. First, I flew to London to see my best friends who are studying abroad there. It was so great seeing them, and it felt like we hadn’t been apart at all. Word to the wise, clubbing in London is ridiculously expensive. Don’t bother paying if it’s more than 10 or 15 quid… I learned that the hard way. I didn’t really do any touristy things that weekend, but honestly it was nice just hanging out with my friends. Later on in that same week, my mom visited, and I got to show her around Ireland. We went into Dublin for the day and I took her to some of the great museums here. The day after, we hopped on a bus to spend a few days in Galway. Galway is one of my top places I’ve been to in Ireland. It’s a beautiful city, full of history and beautiful architecture. We took a day tour to the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher, and that was another highlight. However, the cliffs are definitely not the place to go if you’re scared of heights. I am absolutely TERRIFIED of heights, and stayed on the paths farthest from the edge the whole time. I was convinced I was going to be blown over by the strong winds. Luckily, I survived, and we came back to Maynooth the next day. Then, the day after my mom left, my sister came. She and I mostly stuck to Dublin and Maynooth since she was only here for 3 days, but we still had a great time. I loved being able to show here where I live and go to school, and she seemed to really like Ireland. Now, with only about 4 weeks left in the semester, I have to buckle down and get all my work done!
