Classes at the University are going well so far and I am enjoying each of them. The weekend of October 22nd, we had an excursion to Ribadesella, which is a very small and unique village in Asturias because of its inlet beach. While in Ribadesella, we visited Cuevas de Tito Bustillo, which contains prehistoric paintings. After visiting Ribadesella, my host family was nice enough to take me to a Real Oviedo soccer match against Tenerife. It was an awesome experience because Oviedo fans are very passionate and what made the experience even better is that Oviedo won against Tenerife, 2-0.
The following weekend I went to Valencia, which is in southeast Spain and is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in all of Spain. While in Valencia, I visited the City of Arts and Sciences, Torres de Serranos, Cathedral of Valencia, and Malvarrosa Beach,. The City of Arts and Sciences was by far my favorite part in Valencia because of its futuristic architecture. Los Torres de Serranos is one of the greatest historic buildings in Valencia, and was used to defend against sieges and attacks, but primarily used for ceremonial purposes during the 14th century. Next, I visited the Cathedral of Valencia, which was interesting because it contains multiple architectural elements of different regions including Valencian Gothic, Romanesque, French Gothic and Renaissance. After touring the inland part of Valencia, I visited the Malvarrosa Beach, which was very relaxing and beautiful.
