This was my first time ever being away from home and my family for thanksgiving, and any big “family” holiday for that matter. Which was kind of weird not being with them. Also thanksgiving is just an American holiday so it was weird going to class on a holiday that i usually spend the whole day with my family. It was just another regular Thursday here. I went to class and my professor was asking us if today was a holiday or something and the whole class was like “yeah its kind of a big thing in the states”. Then once class was over I went to meet up with my friend Dani and her family, and we went to an American restaurant that was having a thanksgiving themed menu to makes us feel somewhat at home even though in reality we are not close to home at all. It was really nice of them to let me tag along and have a nice thanksgiving experience away from home. Dinner was really good, but it was nothing like my family’s cooking and home recipes. So it was kind of sad not having the same type of food that I would have had if I were back home with my family. But this food still hit the spot. Then after the dinner I went back to my flat and facetimed my whole entire family and it felt like I was back home for a little bit, it was really nice being to talk to every single one of my family members.
