Ciao miei amici!
I’ve been putting off writing this final letter, post-return to the states, until I started to feel a sort of longing or emotional imbalance that was rooted back to my life in Rome. It took me a while to feel thing’s because, at first, well, I was really grateful for hot showers and a working dryer. Oh, and Chic-Fil-A.
But as school begins to approach for my final semester at Rollins, and as my italian friends keep snapchatting me all of the things they are doing back in Rome over winter-break…I am feeling left out. Not just with my italian friends and their adventures, but left out of Italy all together. The simple things, like walking down the streets to get where I need to go, public transit, and Gelato…all of those things aren’t something I can really do in Tampa, FL. Not to mention the difference in people and the everyday culture.
The only thing that is keeping me going is the friends I have that remain in Rome, and the knowledge that I will without a doubt be going back to the Eternal City one day. Hopefully, I can also bring a friend of mine so that they may experience the amazing life I lived for 4 months at 21 years old.
With all of that said, This is my final goodbye.
Arrivederci Roma,
Marc Bremmer
