I have yet to accept that tomorrow I will be on a plane to New Zealand. It doesn’t feel real to me – I don’t think it will feel real until I’m actually walking the streets of Queenstown. I guess I’m a little nervous about living in a foreign country surrounded by strangers, but I know I will have a good time once I’m actually there.
I’m usually very organized and on top of things, but I have yet to finish packing… I can only bring one suitcase under 50 pounds so I’m stressing about the minimal amount of STUFF I can have. Even my carry-on has a limit of 15 pounds so that’s like a small backpack – it doesn’t even count as a bag. How do I decide which clothes are absolutely necessary? I’m not a very materialistic person, but I am dreading becoming a major outfit repeater.
Perhaps the part making me the most anxious is the epic flight there. I have to take three separate flights, one of which is 17 hours long, and the overall trip is going to be around 30 hours. I don’t know how I can possibly sit for that long without having a giant back ache, but once I’m in New Zealand, I know it will be worth it. Despite all my worries about this drastic change in my life, I am very excited to go hiking and take some awesome pictures of the beautiful scenery and wildlife (penguins!!!).
