For the most part, the homesickness has subsided, partially because my sister is coming to visit next week. Generally, though, I’ve really started to see London as my home away from home. I’ve developed close friendships with my flatmates and have gotten to spend a lot of time with them. I’m planning to get out of London to see Stonehenge next week. Although I haven’t done as much traveling as I would have liked, I’m hoping to change that soon as spring rolls around.
Although my semester has been pretty relaxed, half-term has come with a wave of essays and assignments. I’ve been completing one assignment after the other, and I’m currently procrastinating on an essay as we speak. Unfortunately, the grades here are usually determined by one essay and the final exam. My essays are typically worth 40% of my overall grade, so a lot of effort and close attention needs to go into them. Thankfully, I don’t feel overwhelmed and underprepared, since I start almost a week in advance and spread out my work accordingly. I’m also used to writing essays because I’ve been doing it so long at Rollins. My biggest piece of advice, however, is to manage your time as best as you possibly can so you aren’t spending all day in the library instead of exploring the amazing city you’re in. It is difficult sometimes, but being in London is motivation enough!
