I can not believe in less than a month I will be back in the United States of America. Having the opportunity to study abroad in London, United has been amazing. Studying abroad in the metropolitan city has caused me to understand the importance of culture, global citizenship, global healthcare, politics, civic engagement and personal growth. I am not looking forward to leaving, because London has become my home away from home.
Study abroad this semester has taught me how to be more independent since I had to cook my breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday, wash my own close, clean my own apartment, and had to balance my internship and school. I think this is important because it prepares me for life after college. Furthermore, through my Internship at Castlehaven Community Association (CCA) I was able to enhance my skills of relationship building and community engagement. While interning at CCA have to constantly interact with my co-workers on different projects and have to interact with people in the local area to understand the wants and needs they would like CCA to fulfill for them. Lastly, study abroad in London has created my passion to travel the world. From traveling abroad I learned so much about different cultures and also learned more about myself internally too.
Overall I really enjoyed my experience because I was able to enhance my independence, obtain valuable skills at my internship, and explore around Europe. If I look back to little ole me my freshman year of college I would of never thought I would be able to achieve the things I have done so far in my college career. I was a little girl who was scared to travel the world and now I have become a woman who wants to explore everything the world has to offer.
