So recently I have been asking God what I did to ever deserve my time here in New Zealand. This place is too good to be true! This week included a trip to Piopiotahi (Milford Sound), also known as the “eighth wonder of the world.” It was the first time I camped in thirty degree weather. When planning a camping trip in the South Island of New Zealand, make sure to pack wool everything! If I didn’t have my wool socks and beanie, I probably would not have slept at all throughout the night. Temperatures dropped drastically and quickly.
Packed and ready to go!
Just nestled in the corner of the Milky Way
We camped in the fiord lands and hiked to Lake Marian and Kepler Track!
Greenery on the way to Marian
The hike to Lake Marian was about six hour’s total.
On the way to Marian, we passed countless waterfalls. The Hawaiian water women in me couldn’t resist the blue waters. So even though it was fifty-five degrees out, I had to jump in! I couldn’t feel my body for a solid minute but it was worth it.
Piopiotahi
The heart of Piopiotahi is stunning. Dolphins were swimming in the bay!
Magnificent view and superb company! There is no question why Piopiotahi is named the eighth wonder of the world. Piopiotahi has taken first place for most amazing place visited here in New Zealand thus far. Honestly, I am so in love with Aotearoa!
Ka kite!
