During my final two weeks in Ireland I had my finals, which are done over a much longer period than at Rollins. The finals regulations and overall atmosphere around the campus were tense and taken very seriously. Along with my finals I had a final paper for one of my classes that I was working on for the last 2 weeks. During my period of finals I had a week between my first and second exam so I took a trip to Cork.
I visited Blarney Castle a few weeks ago, where it is said that kissing the Blarney Stone allows a person to endow the kisser with great eloquence of flattery. The ritual involves a person being held by the feet to dangle over the castle’s edge to kiss the stone. Overall, it was quite a walk up to the top of the Castle with a winding staircase and the stone is a few feet off the side of the castle. I also visited the city of Cork, where the roads and houses are built at angles like a staircase.
