Being in Spain has been very interesting so far primarily because of the staggering differences in culture. The cultural event that I enjoyed the most was the tour of the Santiago Bernabeu as I am a big football fan. Walking up to the stadium was incredible because of how big the stadium actually is in person. Going up to the top of the stadium was worth the hike because of the view. After that we went through their museum which is filled with sporting history which was added to this past weekend with Real Madrid winning their 12th European title. Then the tour wrapped up taking us by the pitch and the locker room which were world class. Touring the stadium was a priceless experience and one that showed the explicit passion that people have here for football. The football here has been my favorite part of being in Madrid. Another cultural experience was going to the final Atletico Madrid home game at the Vicente Calderon before they move to a new stadium next season. This game had an unbelievable atmosphere which would make anyone love football if they watched it in that setting. The crowd was extremely wired the entire match and it would trump any sporting atmosphere in the United States in my opinion. Altogether, those two experiences together were an unreal time and were great cultural experiences.
