As we’re approaching the end of our Verano Español, I can say that one of the experiences that I have found most enjoyable was the weekend trip I made with a few friends to San Sebastián. Madrid has so much to offer but I would have been remiss had I not made an effort to experience as many different places as possible while in Spain. San Sebastián stands out to me because it is so distinct from the south of the Iberian Peninsula and the center of Spain, where I spent the majority of the program. The architecture in San Sebastián is so impressive and ornate and contributes to the beautiful appearance of the city as a whole that is so different from anywhere in the United States. But it’s fair to say that what made our stay as enjoyable as it was was the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, not too unlike that of Florida. (It certainly didn’t hurt that San Sebastián is rightfully celebrated for its food.)
