For my mid semester break or spring break over here in NZ, me and 4 of my friends went on an adventure to Samoa. We stayed in the lithia sini beach fales for 7 days (fales means hut) and it was absolutely beautiful. We went all over the island and saw so many great places.
We went to this great ocean trench which was essentially a big hole full of ocean water. We all jumped in and swam around and it was so cool. The waves would come in and pull us around the swimming hole but luckily there was a rope to hold onto. The waves got really big at one point which made it kind of scary but very exciting at the same time. We also went to these cave pools which were also really beautiful to see. These caves were super deep and we swam quite far back but it was pitch black are very hard to see where we were going. All of the caves were interconnected with little tunnels that you could swim through which was super cool. One of my favorite spots that we went to was a waterfall. We had to trek through so much mud to get there but it was 100% worth it. It looked like a scene from a movie or something. The land was completely untouched and breathtakingly beautiful. We hiked to the top of the waterfall and swam in the river above which was unforgettable. We swam in the river and looked out onto the seemingly endless green land. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera or phone with me so I didn’t take any pictures but they are just going to be memories that I will forever have.
Some of the days we just spent on the beach we were staying at called lalaumanu. We would all swim and snorkel around the reef and see all the cool fish and coral or we would just sunbathe and read. Unfortunately I got pretty sunburnt. There isn’t really much of on ozone down here so the sun is way more intense than Florida sun.
This week was a really good break from school work, I met some amazing people along the way and I got to know more about the Samoan culture.
