It’s that time again for the monthly blog and I can’t believe how quickly time has passed. A lot has happened in these few weeks, starting with the cold. It’s unbelievable how much the temperature has dropped these past few weeks and I feel as if I am just not built for the cold, I see myself missing the warm tropical Florida or Dubai heat.
The first week I mostly was recovering from the Oktoberfest and preparing for my friend Evan to come visit me. Evan is one of my closest friends from high school who studies in the Netherlands. He decided to come visit me for a weekend where we went to the Freimarkt festival they had here in Bremen. Best part of this study abroad experience by far is the fact that I can meet up with a bunch of friends that have scattered across Europe.
The next week I went to Berlin with two friends that go to Jacob’s University. The trip took around five hours in total and we stayed at a hostel full of other college students. We went to see all the main monuments, the Berlin wall, the Jewish memorial, checkpoint Charlie and many more places. It was quite heartbreaking walking through the Jewish memorial and seeing the hundreds of stones that tower over you. The idea that it represents over 6 million victims who suffered through the war and to depict it in such a physical way is something that everyone should experience not only for themselves but out of respect for those who died.
Unfortunately, that was probably my last big trip of the semester since all the work is starting to pile up with quizzes and midterms that are coming up. However, this weekend I do plan on seeing my cousin and niece in Hamburg again which is even more special because my aunt is also coming to visit us. I am going to spend all of Saturday with them, having dinner and just catching up.
This month has been exceptional and there’s more to come! In November my father and sister are going to come to explore a bit of Germany with me which I can’t wait to write about to you guys. Until next month (: Stay classy Orlando.
