Just as I said last time, where has the time gone? Three months went by in the blink of an eye, but at the same time I feel like it’s been so long. I’m comfortable in my little corner of east London and so accustomed to the local grocery shops and surroundings. I’m so used to the tube and buses, where only three months ago I was nervous to use them alone. Somehow I grew roots in my little flat (and I’m emphasizing the little). I know I’ll miss it very much.
One major accomplishment of this trip is my traveling! It might not have been as much as I initially planned, but the trips I went on were fantastic experiences. In my previous post I wrote about Paris, but I also got the chance to see Germany last month! My boyfriend came to visit and together, he and I attended and INCREDIBLE concert is Berlin. From there, we took a train to Hamburg, where we stayed directly in the center of the city above a cafe! All in close proximity were restaurants and museums and piers. It was one of the best trips I’ve been on, although I will say it was extremely cold.
Speaking of the cold, it’s finally gotten to be actually cold in London and I have such mixed feelings. On one hand, it’s a new experience where I can layer and wear winter clothes (physically impossible in Florida) and even possibly see snow (even if it’s just a little bit). But on the other hand, I’m so cold. In order for me to leave the flat, I often have to wear tights, jeans, socks, boots, a tank top, a sweater, a light jacket, a coat, and a scarf. I’m too cold to even go into our kitchen without a sweater. I can’t wait to be back in a place where 60 F is considered a cold snap.
The closer my departure date gets, the more excited I am to go home. This trip was such a significant event in my life and I really do love it here, but I’m ready to revisit the comfort of my own community. And my shower. It’s so much nicer than the one here.
