Oh boy I missed the sun, the sand, and the beach. One of the first things I did after rejoicing with my family was go and lay down with my dog. I was so happy to see my old man, he acted like such a puppy when he saw me and man did I miss him. Now being back home meant a lot of people to see and things to do before intersession back at Rollins started. There were so many friends to see and so many things they all wanted to do right when I got back. From going to the beach/movies to having family dinners and bonfires, And all this needed to be done before I left, again, back to school. Literally as soon as I landed and posted on my snapchat that I was finally back in Florida my phone was filled with loving messages of get you’re a** over here right now I need to see you from my various high school friends. I arrived in West Palm on Monday and the very next day my friends had a much needed beach day planned. I knew that the weather in London would be completely different from the normal warmth and sun I was used to but it was still a shocker. Most days were gloomy and dark with barely any sun breaking through the cloud cover. On top of the lack of sun it was always cold here, like I need to wear my winter jacket again cold. Needless to say the beach was one of the first “must-do’s” of being home. Living in Florida allows me to do crazy things like go to the beach in December but still have a bonfire in the night time. Overall my study abroad experience was amazing, wonderful, worth it, and so much fun. I made friends with really great people who I plan to stay in touch with and hopefully see some time again. Because of the ease of travel over in London I was able to go on six fantastic trips to different countries with a really good friend from school, which I think allowed us to bond and become closer than before. To anyone who is considering studying aboard I would highly recommend to them to take advantage of the opportunity offered to us by Rollins. Yes you’ll miss a semester at Rollins with all of the friends you have there and yes you’ll miss out on some of the usual school related experiences and club events with friends and yes you’ll be away from family for a short period of time but all in all it’ll be so worth it in the end.
