So after my first 5 weeks, London is starting to feel like a second home. I’m adjusting well to this new place- especially public transportation which was a huge fear of mine the first week arriving, but now it’s a breeze. I am now out of my comfort zone where I can explore outside of my residence area on a regular basis. I have started to explore a lot between classes and my internship to find what I can enjoy here in London- and one of them has been the food! Living in the heart of London, you will find anything but your typical cakes, tea, and British breakfast. The city itself is a melting pot of cultures from all over the globe and is a very urban city where you can find anything to eat. Through these first 5 weeks, I have tried a variety of different foods, from sweet to savory, around my town and other places in London. Below I have taken photos of foods from some of my favorite places I have eaten in London-some you can find in others places around the globe, others you can only find in London!
Amorino
This soft and creamy Italian gelato offers a variety of flavors, and you can choose as many as you’d like! My favorite flavors include milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and chocolate hazel nut- there are various locations around London.
2. Melt Room
The Melt Room brought me back to my childhood with it’s simple ooey-gooey grilled cheese melt. Along with this classic sandwich, it also offers a variety of other sandwich melts including mac’n cheese, BBQ chicken , and even Nutella melts! Location: 26 Noel St, Soho, London
3. Milk Train Cafe
If you are into fun and trendy foods, the Milk Train is a must! This ice cream cafe creates soft serve ice cream on a waffle cone wrapped around a cotton candy cloud. Only found in London! Location: 44 Bedford St, London
4. Famous Flames
One of my favorite restaurants located right near my flatt is Famous Flames. They serve chicken and waffles with the best waffle fries all cooked to order! Location: 11 Kentish Town Rd, Camden Town, London
5. Lockside Camden
A simple yet delicious mac n’ cheese bowl topped with garlic crumbs and jalapeños from Lockside Camden, a restaurant located in the Camden Market; also another great spot to find a variety of foods. Location: 75-89 Upper Walkway, Camden Lock Place, London
6. Pizza Express
A pretty common pizza place in London that serves a variety of fresh and hot pizzas made to order in a beautiful dining setting. Located in various areas around London.
7. Naked Dough Shop
Edible cookie dough?? Yes! Naked Dough Shops are spotted in various locations around London and serves a variety of edible cookie dough flavors. My favorite is the simple chocolate chip cookie dough.
These are only a snippet into the foods offered in London. While I’ve posted more trendy and urban-style foods, London contains more traditional food choices from many different backgrounds- South Asian foods are very common, along with Italian, Irish, and more. In all, whatever you are craving, London is bound to have it!
