Hola Amigos, this weekend we went to Candelario, a small town in the mountains of Spain. The highlight of the trip was visiting Granadilla (Pictured above). This town was built in the 9th century, and for many years was a self-sustaining city. But after the Spanish government built a reservoir the citizens abandoned the city in 1955. Although for many years it was a summer campsite and tourist destination, people have just recently began to rebuild the city. It was an amazing mix between newly refurbished buildings and a massive wall and castle tower which surround the city and have been there for hundreds of years. The wall surrounds the entire city and provides an amazing view of the surrounding areas. In the town they had many fruit trees and luckily I was able to get an orange, which was one of the best oranges I have ever had. It was amazing to see a town that had been around for so long and to see what happens when people desert a town. My visit to Granadilla has been one of the highlights of my experience in Spain and an experience I will never forget.
