This past weekend our program took a trip to Candelario. While on this excursion we went to a near by town called Granadilla. This town was once abandoned because the people feared that the walls surrounding the town would cause it to flood. Within the last ten years rehabilitation efforts have been made to revitalize the town and they are now letting tourists in. This town was very interesting. There were many structures still standing, but also many that have started to decay. There were also many animals living within the town walls. The picture above shows one of the many creative ways that flowers were planted throughout the town. Many different house hold objects were turned into beautiful flower pots. The castle that was originally built in the town still stands and provides an amazing view of the surrounding area.
