Ciao! These past two months in Rome have been the best months of my life! Rome is insanely beautiful and exciting. I have really gotten to know the city very well and have become a master at using the rather unorganized public transportation system here. But what really excites me the most is the crazy number of monuments, Ancient Roman sites, and fountains to see here in Rome. There is of course the Colosseum and the Forum, as well as the Pantheon. However, my favorite thing about Rome has to be the numerous fountains that you can find all over the place. They are so grandiose and beautiful, it is incredible! One of my personal favorites is the Fontana di Trevi, or as you may know it, the famous Trevi Fountain. It is so large, and it is always crowded, but something about tossing a coin over your shoulder is so magnificent! Another one of my favorite places to visit here in Rome is the Vatican. I was able to attend a ceremony in which the Pope declared many religious figures as saints, which was truly something else. I will be visiting the Vatican museums later in November, which I am thrilled about. Another aspect of Rome that I would like to highlight is the food. The food here is second to none. From the carbonara to the fresh tomato sauce, to the fresh seafood to “saltimbocca alla romana”, one of my favorites. This dish consists of pork, prosciutto, sage in an amazing sauce. It is incredible! Who can forget about pizza, of course. When I was on the ISA excursion to Naples, I had the most amazing margherita pizza from where margherita pizza was invented. It was truly an unforgettable experience! On that trip we also visited Sorrento and Capri. Sorrento is so small and is on a mountainside but is extremely fun to experience at sunset and at night. Our day in Capri was one of the best days of my life. From the amazing seafood and pizza and the insane views, it was awesome! My favorite part had to be the private boat tour with some of my favorite people that I met in Rome. Here is some advice: find some friends and set sail! Arrivederci!
