I have grown accustom to London and its many quirks of public transport, crossing streets, and being okay with splurging on hot chocolate every now and then. I’m coming down to the wire in London and I’m doing my best to cross off things on my “Sights to see” list everyday as I am running out of weekends. Right now, finals are happening and I’ve got presentations and papers to write but I making sure to work on these assignments somewhere where I can sight-see as well; so I am currently writing this post at Daunt Books-a book chain sort of like Barnes and Nobles back home. Just the other weekend I attended an orientation seminar at King’s College for post-grad programs in Psychology and now I am considering coming back to London to pursue a masters! I am just contemplating but the idea of it is pretty remarkable. The programs are more course specific here than in the U.S and I am keen on the experience I will have if I choose to go down that route.
On a different note, my time at my placement at the Centre for Brain and Cognitive Development has gotten significantly better as I have now been trained in the software and proper training in how to put on an infant EEG cap and how to run a testing session alongside post-doctoral researchers. I have learned to make the most of out my situation here at the research center; I have learned not to be afraid to ask questions and to ask if I could do different tasks and by doing this I have met many people in the field of neuroscience and discussed research papers that they have written and have been given feedback for my future career plans and this experience has absolutely shaped my decision on what I would like to pursue after graduation in May.
I am thankful to have chosen to be a part of this study abroad experience, I highly recommend every student at Rollins to take a leap of faith and study abroad during one of their semesters while at Rollins because of the learning experience, the personal growth, and the cultural knowledge one learns throughout their time abroad. I am going to miss my home away from home in London. But I have a strong feeling I’ll be back. Quite soon.
Cheers. x
