For fall break we traveled to Budapest, Prague, Vienna, and Krakow. In Budapest, we saw this amazing Parliament building, went on a night boat tour, ate the best guacamole I’ve ever had, “biked” in the bike lane, and went to a fun ruin bar. While we were there it was pretty rainy, but we walked everywhere anyway and made the most of our time there. On our night boat tour, we saw this beautiful bridge lit up at night and just had fun being on the water. Overall the feel of the city was way more grunge than other ones we have visited, but it had a really cool art scene and breathtaking architecture. Then we went to Prague. Prague was by far our favorite. People always ask us what we loved so much about Prague and it is something you can’t even put into words. It is just a feeling. Gabby and I would wake up every day here and go on a little walk to this amazing donut shop. We would get our favorite donut, brown sugar, and coffee with oat milk. It felt so comfortable and routine to be there. I think my happiest moment though on abroad so far was walking over this beautiful bridge in Prague. I got to see the boats out on the water with the sun in my face and watch my friends laugh and dance to the music players on the street. It was one of those beautiful moments in life where everything just felt right. Later on in Prague, Gabby, Meg, and I all decided to get piercings to commemorate our favorite spot. Then we moved on to Vienna, which was actually our least favorite. We had extremely high hopes for Vienna, but it felt too much like a city for us. All of the sights were extremely far away from each other and was just a bit overwhelming to visit in the time we had. The one thing we did do was go and see an opera at the Vienna Opera House for 3 euros and that was something I will never forget. We saw the show Les Troyens, which is one of the largest productions in opera history and because of that reason is rarely performed. Finally, our last stop was Krakow. Krakow was really our time to rest and relax. It was a super small town so we saw everything we wanted to see in less than a day and the rest of the time we just chilled in coffee shops. It was so nice to just be able to be somewhere and not be scheduled to see different things. I love going to all of the touristy things and museums, but I think my favorite thing to do is just grab food or coffee and take in the city. We had some of our best food in Krakow. We went to the Black Duck and had these incredible dumplings and dessert vodka. It was by far the best meal I have had here besides Dar Poeta pizza. Fall break was definitely one of the coolest parts of being abroad. Even being in Rome, things just get so routine and normal that having a break from that and experiencing something new was refreshing!
