I have about one week left in Rome at the time of writing this blog post. This week for me has been all about studying and preparing for final exams, but also about going to my favorite spots in Rome for one last time and spending as much time as I can with the amazing and life changing friends I have made here. My final week has included going back to my favorite dishes one last time to order my favorite dishes, like cacio e pepe, arrabiata, amatriciana, and carbonara. These are Roman classic and traditional dishes that I will truly miss when I get back to America in about a week. Let’s not forget about the class margherita pizza and the fantastic gelato available here in Rome. The gelato truly is something else. I’ve visited the colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, piazza Navona, piazza Venezia, and Vatican City in a last minute effort to pack as much of Rome as I can in one week. I will truly miss the historical and cultural architecture and atmosphere of Rome. It is so rooted in history down to the buildings and streets that is a haven for those who want to learn about the old and new Italian way. Italy is truly a melting pot of international cultures and identities. People from all over the world travel to Italy for the food, the religious aspects of home, and the landmarks of the Ancient Roman Empire. Rome is a city of stories and to truly understand and appreciate Rome, you must always be paying attention and focusing on the little things. It is in the little details in Rome that you see why it is so great. From the different settings of the street lights, to the 40 different cheeses you can choose from to put on your sandwich, Rome truly has everything to offer.
