One of our cultural activities during our first few weeks in Spain was to attend a “futbol” game.The game was played between Spain’s team and Sweden’s national team, held at the famous Santiago Bernabéu stadium. I have always heard how passionate the fans were for these games so, I was excited to witness it first hand. We got the the stadium and I automatically felt the energy of the fans. The energy level only rose throughout the game. Two goals were scored by Madrid and each time the stadium erupted in cheers. I even got to try some traditional Spanish cuisine while in the stadium. After the game, we stood outside the stadium and watched as tens of thousands of Madrid fans walk out victorious. I am so grateful I got the opportunity to be a part of a huge aspect of Spanish culture, and I know I will cherish this memory for years to come.
