My favorite thing we have done in Spain so far has been to go to the Madrid VS Sweden UEFA soccer game. The energy even outside the stadium was incredible. Everyone was so excited to be there and the atmosphere was contagious. After entering the stadium, we made our way to our seats and then made our way to the food area. I got a fantastic Spanish take on a hotdog, then retreated back to my seat just as the game was starting. Everyone, including elderly people and young children started going absolutely wild as soon as Madrid took the field. Luckily, Madrid made two goals while we were there and I was able to experience the madness of nearly 100,000 fans cheering at once. I am so happy to have gotten to witness the insanity of a Madrid “fútbol” game, and it will defiantly be something that I will remember for the rest of my life.
