This trip has been an eye opening experience and I’m very thankful for such an amazing opportunity. It has taught me a lot about myself and how well I can adapt in situations that force me to be uncomfortable. I’ve learned more about my habits and who I am as a person because I was placed in a situation completely different than home, allowing myself to compare and contrast the two different lifestyles I’ve lived in the past year. I was able to watch the Spanish national fútbol team play against Sweden in a completely packed stadium and it showed me how prevalent culture and pride is and how connected futbol is with the Spanish way of life. Seeing this atmosphere made me feel special and connected with thousands of people, but I didn’t know any of them. Having to force myself out of my comfort zone to be able to even enter the stadium taught me a lot (we went to 3 wrong entrance gates before finally entering). I’m thankful for all the opportunities I’ve had through this trip and for how much each thing I do teaches me not only about Spain but also myself.
