I’m now nearing the halfway point in the term here in London. I’ve been taking classes one a day Monday through Wednesday with interning 4 hours on Wednesday and 8 hours Thursday and Friday. My internship placement (the Local Government Association Labour Party Division, LGA Labour for short) is amazing and it’s exactly what I wanted it to be. It’s just a small office with four co-workers who give me tasks to complete from day to day. The task I have been working on the most is editing, creating, and uploading content to a website that we created dedicated to climate change. Every Labour local government council in the UK has declared an official climate emergency and our website is all about the different best practices of every individual council when it comes to fighting climate change. After I upload these articles I then schedule a tweet using Tweet Deck that has a brief headline of the article and a link to the story. The study part of study abroad is definitely the worst part of being abroad but even with it being the worst part, I still really enjoy all of my classes and them being only once per week makes it much more manageable especially with 20 hours of interning per week and trying to explore London, the UK, and the rest of Europe. I’m living with six other guys in a sort of small flat which also makes life interesting. Three of the guys I get to sleep in the same room as lucky me. This is also the first time I have ever lived on my own which is really fun but also a little bit difficult. I’ve managed to figure out cooking and grocery shopping and the other guys that have lived on their own have been some good examples to follow. We still need to work on cleaning up after ourselves but that will come by the end of the term hopefully. Next week is fall break and a few of my roommates and other friends have a lot of traveling planned. First we’re going to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, then Ibiza in Spain, then Milan in Italy. The next blog will be after that and I’ll hopefully have some fun stories from that week.
bye for now
