The struggle is real as the final week of classes begins. As an associate student I will be examined before all my classmates and finish my semester this upcoming Monday Dec/09. Thinking back to the first day of classes I can only say that time does fly when you are living a completely new and challenging experience. I didn’t know what to expect from classes that required no previous study time for midterms or even coursework to be handed in for grading. Now, I have to examinations that count for 100% of my grade and I have to prove my knowledge and understanding of the content I have been covering for nearly three months now.
If there is anything I would like to advise any student that is planning to come to QMUL for their study abroad experience is to study every week! It can be easy to be carried away since you are not being tested on the content until the very last day of the semester, however, I am thankful that now that my final week is finally here I have studied enough throughout the semester to not feel very overwhelmed by the amount of material that will be covered in both exams.
Enjoy your classes and most importantly try to build a good relationship with your professors. It might be the case that here at QMUL the classes will be up to 10 times the size of the classes at Rollins, however, professors are open to help and very supportive when it comes to students that show an effort. It’s true that you won’t need further help for some classes because at times one can find some courses easier than others but having a good relationship with your instructor is always worthwhile, they might even offer you a reference letter for future applications!
Finally, I want to close this blog by saying that even though modules at QMUL could be challenging at times, I do not regret having taken the time to explore London and travel as much as I had the chance to. Now that I am sitting down in the library focusing on my exams, I am thankful for all that I did when I had free time! I hope the last two weeks in London are as amazing as all the time I have spent here already. I hope I can tell you I did great in my examinations the next time I write!!!
