I am sitting in my bed writing this the night before I leave to go back to the United States. Looking back on my semester here, I can’t believe that it has gone by so quickly. I started this semester wondering how I would be able to live on my own for the first time ever in a flat with 7 guys who I had never met. I turned out to be a really amazing experience and I am so glad that I decided to do the CAPA London program this semester. While it is called study abroad, it really ends up being more about the time you spend not studying that makes the experience worth it. This semester, I went to Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands on top of England. I had an amazing internship with amazing supervisors who taught me so much about what it is like to work in a political party. I learned how to use a new public transportation system, I cooked and lived all on my own for the first time ever, and I had my first legal drinks. Through my classes, I did get some memorable experiences. I went to two different mosques, I toured multiple museums, and I got to have a tour of London’s main financial hub. Politically, I got to see a general election and all of the excitement that comes with it especially being someone who worked in politics and is obsessed with politics, I got to experience all of the protests that came with the heightened awareness of climate change, and I was able to experience the Brexit issue first hand and how all of the protests and drama that came with it. When it comes to sports, I found out that the United States does have a rugby team and I got to see England in the World Cup, I got to see my first champions league football game, and I still don’t know the rules to cricket. Overall, this semester is one I will never forget, and I will always recommend anyone wanting to study abroad to come across the pond to London.
