Blog #2 Multicultural London
After being in London for almost a month, I can say that London is a very multicultural city. Over 200 languages are spoken throughout the different neighborhoods. The fact of having many different cultures in the same place makes the city vibrant and exciting with very different streets, food, and people from all over the world. I live in Brick Lane which is where a large community of muslims live. The neighborhood is amazing with a lot of different shops and a street full of great Bangladeshi restaurants to choose from.
I am doing my internship at Creoate where half of the people who work there were not born in the U.K. Working in such a diverse environment has made me realize that everyone has a different
point of view and way of seeing life-based on their background. However, they
all make an amazingly diverse team which has lead to very successful company
results. I love how everyone
is curious about each other roots and people ask about your background, and
they show genuine interest in learning more about it. Having the opportunity to get to know so many different people has been amazing,
and it has changed my perspective on life in many positive ways.
London is a city where everyone
fits. It is amazing to see all the diversity and get to live here and be part
of it. I have learned to be more curious and talk to everyone because we all
have a story to share. It has been great to see that here people can live their
religion, speak their language, continue their traditions, and contribute to making
the city what it is. Being different is what makes us who we are and from my perspective,
London is a place where we all can be who we are, and we will still feel at
home.
