I have only been in London for a month and have already experienced more than I thought I would at this time. My first week here I hung out with friends and indulged in the nightlife environment, which is a cultural aspect I wanted to touch base on. Before coming to London I had an idea of the nightlife environment considering London is one of the biggest cities in the world; but I had no idea it was as big as it was. I believe that it is one of the main activities to participate in with your fellow friends. My school created multiple nightlife events the first week at the restaurant/bar on campus; which I attended with the friends I made in my accommodation. On the other hand, I am taking a walking the city module and we had our first walking session this week. It was interesting to see London from a tourist view point. While we walked around the city, we as a class took notes on which areas were more touristy and were not. Obviously the area with the big Ben and Parliament buildings were heavily populated, but one of the parks we walked was not as populated. That was interesting to me because I got to see a personal side of London. Individuals working, walking to work, exercising and walking their dogs. It made London seem like a home and not a tourist attraction. I truly felt like I was at home. Even my professor was shocked at the population of people in the city on a Monday morning. I can relate these recent opinions to going to college at Rollins. I am not from Florida and before attending Rollins I remember thinking that Orlando was going to be a robust city, which it is. However, I feel like I am home in Orlando, it is a home for thousands of people. They just happen to live in one of the most populated cities in Orlando, which is exactly like the city of London.
