While in Singapore, I experienced cultural diversity and immersion like never before. Some of my most favorite memories involve interacting with locals. While visiting NSU, we had a casual Q&A session with students around our ages. Following, we had a tour of the University and got to engage further with students. Learning about their everyday life and cultural differences and similarities was so intriguing. Not only that, but becoming friends and keeping up with those students after arriving back home is something that meant the world to me. During our cooking class, many of us had to step outside onto the somewhat busy road where the facility was due to our eyes watering from so many onions being cut. Towards the end, my friend and I were lingering out front when two local girls around our age walked by. One of them had on a pair of shoes my friend and I loved, so we complemented her which sparked an hour long conversation. We had free time after the class, so we were able to stick around and continue talking. It was so fun getting to know them and about their lives. I am so grateful for the bonds I formed abroad.
