On my visit to Taiwan today we had the opportunity to visit a local temple called the Hsinchu City God Temple. It was really unique and interesting to see a temple in the middle of a busy area on a main road in the city. I was surprised to see so many people flowing in and out of the temple to pray to the gods as well as eat at the stores and shops all along the temple. One of the most interesting parts of this experience was how detailed the temple was. It had so many colorful carvings and even had large doll-like creatures that were made to guard the temple.
I personally found them to be quite scary but very detailed like everything else in the temple. I noticed along our drive there that these temples were very common and in all different areas.
