In the past two days, I have had the opportunity to drive from the north to southern Taiwan and see the city of Chiayi. I found our visit to Everwide Chemical co to be very informative of the business structure in Taiwan. They have a similar structure to companies in America where developers and researchers are at the top and factory workers are at the bottom with a clear division of labor. Their products are made based on the demand of their clients which is similar to some companies in America. One main difference I found was that many of the jobs I saw people working could have easily been automated with machines. I am not sure if this is due to company preference or the lack of infrastructure/technology but American companies typically have more automated systems. After visiting this company we spent the night in Chiayi. It was immediately clear that Chiayi is less populated and less urban. I also felt more comfortable here because of its less hectic atmosphere.
