Time keeps moving along, and much faster than I would like. Our week long trip to Italy was an incredible experience, and while I had a great time, I was surprised to notice how much I missed London while I was over there. I enjoyed myself immensely, but was ready to come home to London by the end of it.
It was great to come back and see Christmas decorations starting to pop up here and there as well. I love Christmas so much and the whole atmosphere and vie of the city seems to change as more and more decorations come out. I absolutely adore it. Since there is no Thanksgiving over here, Christmas is coming out in full force even earlier, which I don’t mind. I’m in full support of listening to Christmas music starting November 1st. However, because there won’t be a big family Thanksgiving for me this year, my flat mates and I, along with some other friends from CAPA, have decided to host our own little Friendsgiving, which I’m really excited for.
I was finally able to go with a couple of my friends, however, to the Warner Brothers Studio Tour to see where they filmed Harry Potter. Oh. My. Word. It was absolutely amazing! Even the sets were decorated for Christmas. The Great Hall had all its trees and garland, the Gryffindor Common Room had Christmas Cards and streamers all about and it was absolutely magical.
I was also able to spend some time in the British Library, where they had a Harry Potter exhibition to celebrate its 20 year anniversary. They even had a panel with the illustrators of the new Harry Potter illustrated editions and the illustrated edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them. It was wonderful and I loved every minute of it.
One of my flat mates and I also recently took a short little weekend trip to Paris! Of course, we spent a day at Disneyland Paris, which was so much fun. It too was decorated for Christmas and really made us get into the Christmas spirit. I loved getting to see another Disney Park and experience the magic in an entirely new way. And Disney at Christmas time is always the best.
In the midst of trying to see all the different Christmas festivals that are happening around the city, I’m still interning and taking classes. My internship is going so great, and just seems to be getting better as time goes on. I’m having so many different opportunities to write articles, interview people, and attend meetings and I’m learning so much. I can’t believe I’m already past the half way point of my program.
