In Lancaster we get a month off for spring break, or as they call it here Easter break. So for most of my break I went and traveled to other parts of Europe. There was a trip offered by the school to get the chance to travel to different countries. So a few friends and I signed up for that. We went to Amsterdam, Hamburg, Brussels, and Lille. This trip was a week long. It began the Sunday break started and finished the next Sunday. It took time getting to each city, because we were going by bus, so the initial trip from Lancaster to Amsterdam was about 15 hours, but from there the trip to each city was at most about five hours. We spent about two days in each city which I think was a good amount of time to experience each city, but not enough time to accomplish everything you may have wanted.
On the last day of the trip my friends and I instead of going back home with the school decided to do our own trip to Paris from Lille. This was about a three hour bus ride. We spent from Sunday afternoon to Wednesday morning in Paris. This was my favorite city we visited on the whole trip mainly because there was so much to do, and we had more time to see everything. While there I got to see most of the touristy things in Paris, Notre Dame, Eiffel tour, the Louvre, and my personal favorite the gardens of Versille. I also got to try the local cusine in a little hole in the wall French restautrant. Even though the place was not that well known it was still delicious, looked fancy on the inside, and the best part very cheap. I got to try escargot, which tasted a lot like Pesto, but was very enjoyable. I also got to try Foie Gras (Duck fatty liver) which was alright, but according to one of my friends that I would have to go somewhere a little more fancy if I wanted proper Foie Gras.
Paris was a nice way to end my tour around Europe, I would have liked to explore more countries, but I do not have the time right now, so hopefully after my exams I will get to go. From Paris I’m about to head onto a nine hour bus ride to London.
