The weekend trip to Candelario was my favorite experience in Spain thus far. It was the complete opposite of Madrid—unknown, human-scaled, and nature is at arm’s reach. This small town gave me perspective on how minimally a person actually needs to live, especially coming from a city like Madrid. I learned more about my classmates than I expected to, but I also learned a lot about myself. I do not need as much as I thought I did to sustain happily and comfortably, and I need to spend this lifetime experiencing as much of the world as possible to gain even more perspective. I’m so grateful for my experience in Spain up until this point and how much I’ve been able to grow as a person.
