In just two days I will be starting a 5+ month adventure to New Zealand while studying at the University of Otago… and of course I waited until the last minute to start packing (which is what I will be doing when I finish this blog post). I have never really traveled for an extended time period besides seeing parts of Italy for about a week, so spending a semester in another country will be totally eye opening to someone like myself. I am most looking forward to being immersed into a new culture and taking advantage of being in a place that I may not ever have the opportunity to visit again. I would love to see Milford Sound, Mount Cook, and travel to parts of Australia. Milford Sound is a fiord on the south island of New Zealand filled with wildlife and Mount Cook is the tallest mountain in New Zealand. There are plenty of other destinations on my list of places to visit but if I were to mention those this post could drag on forever.
I reached out to my Kiwi host (the student from Otago that I will be staying with) the other day to introduce myself and tell him how excited I am to come. I am equally excited to meet the rest of my roommates who will be from other parts of the world. I am staying in a 6 bedroom flat so I will be with 4 other students (not including my Kiwi host) most likely all from different countries.
I cannot wait to get going and see what these adventures will bring upon me!
See you soon Dunedin.
