This week I explored the street art of in Shoreditch in the East End of London and Brick Lane known for Banglatown and Indian curry. I chanced on many cute fair trade coffee shops and a raw chocolate shop with products from Ghana. I also explored the Notting Hill, a district in Kensington where the renowned Portobello Road Market is located. Notting Hill is a lovely, artistic area that reminds me of the part of Chelsea where my internship is located. It is populated with many cute boutiques, cafes, many of which have pastel-colored facades. Later, I traveled to Brighton, the popular beach destination where many Londoners vacation in the summer. I toured the Royal Pavilion, the residence of King George IV, later converted to a public attraction in Queen Victoria’s reign. It is second only to the beach as a tourist attraction. As my time in London is running short I plan to make a few last day trips to see the Windsor Castle and Cambridge. I have a few Rollins friends who have attended summer programs at Cambridge who recommended that I visit before leaving. I also plan on visiting the Tower of London and the Kensington Palace before my semester ends.
