The decision of whether or not to study abroad was easy, despite this move being far out of my comfort zone. I have lived in the same house my entire life, attend college in the same city as my high school, and have never been away from my family for an entire semester. Studying abroad and interning in London will allow me the opportunity to be uncomfortable in all the best ways — for I truly believe this is how we grow as people. I look forward to building on my strengths, working on my weaknesses, and learning to love myself and all my quirks.
Brother, son, nephew, cousin, friend, advocate.
It’s not unusual for me to fly across the country to see my cousins for the weekend, celebrate their birthdays in Colorado, or visit relatives in California. Friday nights are for watching my little sister cheer at her high school football games and Saturday mornings are spent at the farmers’ market with my older sister, where we get “the usual” kettle corn, salmon bagel, and sugarcane juice. We enjoy dinner as a family almost on a daily basis, and I even get to spend time with my older brother and his wife multiple times a week despite their hectic schedules as physicians. So much of my life revolves around my family and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Spending a semester in London changes this dynamic of my life, but I know I’ll remain connected to those important to me.
Winter Park, Florida.
I was born at the Winter Park Hospital and have lived and attended school within a six mile radius my entire life. In fact, the longest time I’ve spent away from home was eight weeks for summer camp. Having traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world, I have gained a love for exploring new sights and immersing myself in new cultures. I cannot wait to explore my new home in London!
