This week I went to many cultural activities through various parts of the city. The first stop was San Miguel market, a very impressive market entirely within a glass structure. The market is home to several restaurants, barres, and all forms of Avengers. There is little Spanish food that can not be found within the market. A majority of the group went to the market, some people bought one kind of fish sandwich, the burgers only less brave, was not very hungry and decided to buy a watermelon juice and very fresh strawberry.
The next day, we explored the famous museum, the Reina Sofia. The museum was full of some of my favorite works of art, I really did not know were there. While the first floor is a modern art, which I detest, the second floor has works by some of the most famous painters of Spain, like Dali and Picasso. That’s where I spent a majority of my time at the museum. You can look at the Guernica for an hour without being satisfied that you have seen and understood everything. However, because we visited the museum before class, we did not have much time, and for that reason I have to go back before I leave to see the rest of the works of Dali.
The last “cultural activity” I’m going to write about for the week was the end of the Champions League, the two Madrileño teams, Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid. To watch the game, a large group of us bought tickets to the Vicente Calderon stadium, where the game was played on large screens in the middle of the pitch. There were 25 thousand people in the stadium roughly, all witness to the pain that was the end of the game. Although we were certain that our team won, it was still an amazing experience to be in town for such a ridiculous, and monumental match.
