Every year the american military base in Hohenfels Germany host a party for the locals. This is done to increase the relations between the U.S. army stationed there and the Germans. Everyone drives and parks on the airstrip and proceed to head over to the Volksfest, carnival. They have some rides and a big beer tent set up there. It was fun to go to because it was an indecent of two cultures mixing with different values. There are different rules here compared to a normal Volksfest and not just because its on a base. One of the biggest rules is that you are not allowed to stand on a table and dance. This is normally very common place in Germany so it really stands out that the party is not as “rowdy” as its German counterparts. Meanwhile some, not all, of the locals didn’t like the display of tanks for people to take a picture with. Germans are typically very anti-violence. You can also see this reflected in the fact that pg-13 movies with violence are rated R here. Compared to the Americans through who saw it as second nature, even those who were civilians, it stood out.
