During our first couple weeks of being in Spain we have done several cultural activities. My favorite of which has been going to the Madrid VS Sweden soccer game. When we got to the stadium I was shocked at the size of the stands because it was much larger then I expected. Outside the stadium, we all figured we should buy some merchandise to support the team so we all walked in wrapped in the Madrid team’s scarves. During the game, everyone was very rowdy and excited with every play. We were lucky enough to see two goals made by Madrid, and the mostly Madrid-filled-fan stadium went absolutely wild each time. I am usually not very excited for sports games, but this was by far my favorite game I have been to. I am so glad I got to experience this piece of Spanish culture and without the Verano español program, I never would have had this fantastic experience.
